This weekend, I can’t help but think of Mary. 

The mother who watched her son die 
and chose not to look away. 

The mother who knew from His conception that her Son
 would die and yet she chose to carry Him anyway. 

The mother who stayed.
These are the conversations we need to be having.

Sure it’s the parent’s choice. And I love and support many families who choose differently than I do now.

But that doesn’t mean I’ll stop trying to show them this side. That
“But won’t they ask why they look different?”

Yes. And I’ll get the beautiful opportunity to explain why and reframe the way circumcision is viewed in the next generation.

I feel myself pulled into a new phase.
A phase where I don’t let the noise cloud my vision.
Where what’s within arms reach is the greater good.
Where “I don’t know the answer to that” is part of my vocabulary.
I’d love to hear from you about what felt most important in birth (besides a living baby. Every mother wants that).

For me it was to feel it all - everything birth required of me. I wasn’t going to give up one single sensation.
